Having the perfect music for Valentine’s day is absolutely essential for seducing your lover. Playing the right songs can take you and your special someone to another level of consciousness. Music will equal love and then some if you stick to my list of hot crooners and piquant tunes.
10. Touch – Seal
All you have to do is mention the name Seal and you immediately want to make out with someone just thinking about his sultry voice. Seal’s music, I am sure was playing while many children were being conceived. This particular velvety, creamy slow jam is off of his 2003 album Seal IV. I had to put this on my list because when he sings the phrase “I remember times I used to kiss, your mouth, your eyes, your face”, I get weak in the knees. It is as if he is whispering in my ear and if you play this one for her or him they will be whispering a few words in your ear for clear.
9. Your Sex is on Fire – Kings of Leon
Okay the title may speak for itself. However it is the raspy, intense delivery of the lyrics by front man Michael Jared that stir up the fire. I put this on my list because when I hear him wale the words “Your sex is on fire, consumed with what’s to transpire” paired with the driving guitar and drum progression, I feel like a teenager. My heart starts pounding, I feel alive and I want to grab my husband and make out like I was 16 again. That is exactly what I plan to do when it comes on my Valentine’s Day Play list.
8. Ne Me Quitte Pas – Nina Simone
Ne Me Quitte Pas means If You Go Away and was written by Songwriter Jacques Brel in 1959. There have been many different versions by various artists in French and English. However no one will make you feel the agony and ecstasy of the song like Nina. She has one of the most unique voices ever. Her deep mysterious tones come off as androgynous at times. The Fact that she is singing in French makes it all the more sexy. I picked this one because I think that a sad love song can also be an aphrodisiac.
7. My Love – Justin Timberlake
The slow steady groove makes you imagine you and your lover floating across an empty dance floor, enticing each other with a fresh day strip tease. Okay well maybe I got that image from the ridiculously erotic video for this song. If it is possible for you to include the visual presentation of My Worship for your Valentine’s rendezvous please do. I included this treat mainly because of the video.

The song comes off of Justin’s Second Studio album, FutureSex/LoveSounds 2006.
6. Turn Your Lights Down Low – Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill
This is a very sweet cover in which Ms. Hill incorporates Bob Marley’s Vocals intertwined with her interpretation of the song. This is a great song to smooch to and hold hands while you feed each other some Valentine candy. I chose this one for my list because I love Lauryn’s rap “Loving you is like a song I replay, every three minutes and thirty seconds of every day”.
5. By Your Side – Sade
Another artist like Seal, Sade tugs on your soul and inspires you to make beautiful music with your special someone. By Your Side personifies the harmony of love. It picks you and your lover up and cradles you both with desire. This songs reminds me of the man that I want to employ all night kissing. I included this song to remind myself to have this on my Valentine’s Day songs to make out to list. This entire album, Lovers Rock released in 2000 is a must have if you want to set the proper mood.
4. Pencil Skirt – Pulp
“I’ll be around when he’s not in town, I’ll show you how your doing it wrong, I really love it when you tell me stop, oh your turning me on”. Those are the lyrics to this cheeky, mischievous song by Pulp, released in 1995 off of their Different Class album. The passive aggressive whispers of the lead vocals blow into your ear and send chills down your spine. I put this tasty treat on here for those of you who like to put a diminutive role playing into your make out sessions. You know if you want to pretend to be awful while your partner reprimands you.
3. Criminal – Fiona Apple
The sexy banging of the piano melody followed by a silky slinky voice, hissing the lyric, “I’ve been a bad, bad girl” is hands down hot. This was off of Ms. Apple’s debut album Tidal back in 1996. This is a perfect song to include on your play list if you want to take charge and feel empowered. I include it on my play list because Fiona just drips sensuality and this song is guaranteed to bring the steam.
2. Sexual Healing – Gavin DeGraw
You have to win the live version if you can. Gavin sings so soulfully and when he sustains a note it is orgasmic. Gentlemen if you want to turn your lady on include this on your Make out roster of songs for your love day celebration. I chose Gavin’s version because he save a raw sexy spin on it that hasn’t been done before.
1. Lover Lay Down – Dave Matthews Band
Just thinking about the first time someone played this song for me makes me drunk with passion. This absolutely is one of the most profound love songs ever. If you have not laid your ears on this please get it . Lover Lay Down came off of the DMB album called Under the Table and Dreaming 1994. Believe me if you play this song for the person you want to entice you will not only be under the table and dreaming you will be on it, next to it, well you come by the picture. Just look at these lyrics, “Spring sweet rhythm dance in my head and lope into my lover’s hands, kiss me oh won’t you kiss me now and sleep I would inside your mouth, don’t be us too shy for intellectual is no big surprise, that I will wait or you, I will wait for no one but you, oh please lover lay down” There is something about the tone of Dave Matthews voice that can instantly fuse two sets of lips together.
I hope you delight in my suggestions, let me know if they worked for you. Jubilant kissing and Pleased Valentine’s Day.
